On May 27th, the 6th "Secret Light Awards" expert review meeting was successfully held at Shenzhen University. More than 20 experts both online and offline focused on "technology, innovation, development, and contributions." Adhering to the principles of "fairness and impartiality," they conducted a comprehensive evaluation of the 145 shortlisted projects for the 12 major awards of the annual laser grand prize "Secret Light Awards."

An Authoritative Panel Convenes
Jointly Reviewing Industry Awards
The expert review panel for the current "Secret Light Awards" is led by four distinguished academicians: Academician Yao Jianquan from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Academician Zhou Shouhuan from the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Academician Yu Qifeng from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the head of the expert review group, Academician Fan Dianyuan from the Chinese Academy of Engineering. The panel members include renowned scholars in the field of lasers and optoelectronics from various research units, institutes, universities, laser associations, as well as laser experts from large laser application companies such as FAW Group, CRRC Corporation, Foxconn, TCL, and others. The intense and orderly review meeting took place throughout the day, with morning and afternoon sessions respectively chaired by the Deputy Head of the Expert Review Group, Executive Vice President of the Guangdong Province Optical Society, and Professor Jiang Shaoji from Sun Yat-sen University, and Professor Wang Di from the Southwest Institute of Physics and Technology.
The review meeting was conducted simultaneously online and offline. During the meeting, the expert panel members rigorously reviewed the submitted projects for 12 awards, including the Laser Industry Influence Enterprise Award, Best Growth Enterprise Award, and Outstanding Contribution Award for Laser Technology Innovation, based on the materials provided by the companies. They offered corresponding review opinions. Each expert committee member carefully reviewed the introduction materials of each shortlisted project and company, evaluated the innovation, leadership, and industry contribution of the projects from multiple dimensions, and provided scores accordingly. They conducted in-depth analyses and discussions on particularly outstanding projects.
The experts participating in the online review also actively contributed their insights, providing comments on the technical innovation, breakthrough in processes, and industry application value of the submitted projects, along with professional review opinions.
Regarding the technical level of the submitted projects, the review experts highly praised many projects, acknowledging that these new technologies, products, and processes will play a positive role in driving the innovative application of laser technology and promoting high-quality development in the industry.
In terms of the evaluation work for the "Secret Light Awards" submissions, the experts also provided many pertinent, objective opinions and suggestions. The organizing committee will summarize the experience, improve the submission system, and conduct evaluations more standardized and scientifically to showcase the most representative technological achievements in the laser industry to the industry.
At the end of the meeting, Academician Fan Dianyuan, the head of the expert review group for the "Secret Light Awards" and a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, delivered an important speech. Academician Fan mentioned that he has participated in the evaluation work for the "Secret Light Awards" for six consecutive sessions and observed a year-on-year increase in both the quantity and quality of the submitted projects, indicating the growing influence of the "Secret Light Awards." In this edition of the award, the projects have reached a new height in terms of quality, innovation, and applicability. He suggested benchmarking international awards, gradually improving the selection process for industry awards, refining assessment criteria, optimizing review regulations, and promoting technological progress in the industry and high-quality development across the entire laser industry chain through professional award evaluations.

During the review meeting, experts gave full recognition to the selection activities of this event, evaluating the achievements of the "Secret Light Awards" selection activities from aspects such as rigorous organization and social impact. They believed that the selection activities have created a good atmosphere in the laser industry that promotes the spirit of innovation. Through the selection activities, a platform has been established, benchmarks have been set, and more outstanding companies and innovative projects have been promoted.
The shortlisted projects for this edition of the "Secret Light Awards" include entries from well-known laser companies both domestically and internationally, as well as hardcore projects developed by emerging companies in the industry. The shortlisted projects demonstrate strong innovation, with core technologies being independently controllable. Most projects have reached an advanced level domestically, and several technologies have reached a world-class level.
Shao Huo, Vice Chairman of the expert review group for the "Secret Light Awards," stated that the evaluation work was satisfactorily completed through the collective efforts of the experts in accordance with the selection methods and relevant requirements. The experts provided valuable opinions and suggestions, which have a strong guiding significance for the selection work of the "Secret Light Awards." Shao Huo expressed that the purpose of organizing the review meeting is to hope that through the scrutiny of authoritative experts, benchmark-setting and innovation-leading laser products and projects can be unearthed. Based on the comprehensive results of expert reviews and online voting, the final list of winners will be announced live at the sixth "Secret Light Awards" ceremony held in Shenzhen on June 26th. At that time, the expert review panel will also be present to award the winning enterprises. After the announcement of the list, the organizing committee will extensively promote the winning products and companies through official websites, media, and other channels.
